Amazon.com"I just finished a record with Mudcrutch, my old band before the Heartbreakers. I am over the moon about it. I couldn't have hoped for it to be as good as it came out." In summer 2007, Tom Petty reunited Mudcrutch, consisting of himself, Heartbreakers Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench, original bandmember Tom Leadon, and Randall Marsh, who joined when Mudcrutch first went to Los Angeles in search of a record deal in the early 70s. Now, more than 30 years later, Mudcrutch finally has its debut album. With new Petty songs and a handful of covers, the self-titled disc is both classic rock and a rock classic.
Don't knock it till you try it. (Rating: 5 out of 5) Does this sound like the '75 Mudcrutch? No. How could it, it's 2008....
I just wish Howie had lived to be a part of this project.
If you love The Heartbreakers, you'll like this album.
EVEN MORE SCALED BACK PETTY (Rating: 5 out of 5) TO KEEP IT SIMPLE, THIS CD IS JUST THAT. SHEER PETTY GENIUS, BUT SIMPLE AND SCALED BACK. THE PRODUCTION IS EXTREMELY RAW WITH A VERY COUNTRY ROOTS EDGE, SO BE SURE YOUR ARE INTO THAT SORT OF THING. THIS IS A VERY WELCOMED CHANGE TO MOST OF TODAY'S BOREDOM POP & COUNTRY MAINSTREAM.
Mixed Bag (Rating: 3 out of 5) It's a mixed album. Some songs grab you right away, others sound like they were impromptu studio jams and a on couple others, I went for the skip button. Not Tom Petty's best work. I listened to it and then sold it. It wasn't a keeper.
Love It !!!!! (Rating: 5 out of 5) Have not been able to change the cd in my car since I bought this, 70's Petty band. How cool to have new-old stuff. Very rounded album. Something for everyone on it. The country stuff is wild to hear. Love it.
another petty classic (Rating: 5 out of 5) over 30 years of great music and tom petty is still putting out great stuff
