To be honest I bought this book b/c it was in the bargain section of books under $5 and I needed a few more bucks to qualify for free shipping.

I have a basinji/terrier mix and he's really hyper so I'm always open to fun ideas for him. This book unfortunately didn't offer that.

The first half is like reading an Animal Planet documentary on dogs. Delving into scientific findings and info. Interesting for the owner, but not really the point of the book, which is why we all bought it.

Once we get to the recommendations they're all kind of short. It's divided into sections for solo dog play, dog and owner play, and multiple dog play. A large majority of them are common sense ideas we have all exhausted to death anyways- nothing new to introduce to the scene. Multiple dog play isn't for all people b/c some only have one dog and aren't open or comfortable with their dogs playing with others.

Lastly, a lot are just plain out there. Like another reviewer said- a doggy sleepover? Really? Who would do that? Some are really expensive and would create great messes like having your dog paint a picture w/ his tail.

One really ridiculous recommendation came from the author's experience with her dog. Apparently they play "frisbee" with a bagel every morning. She rolls the bagel, her dog grabs it and THROWS it back to her. Eventually, when they're tired out, the dog gets to keep and eat the bagel.

I don't know about you, but I'm willing to guess that 99.9% of household dogs would not know how to whip a bagel back to their owner and many wouldn't b/c they would start eating it right away, lacking the self discipline to start a game like that. Devoting 365 bagels to a dog a year is a really expensive doggie treat and probably not the healthiest snack either.

I really wouldn't recommend this book. It's not what you expect and doesn't give any ideas for a real person with a real dog to do. Unless you are willing to devote hours setting up a doggie olympics or other over the top events just use your own common sense thinking of ideas for the dog.

I thought this would have some neat ideas to entertain my dog, however the ideas were more for bored owners than bored dogs. Some ideas were lame, like having a doggy sleepover party. The book was only mildly entertaining because of the author's witty, yet annoying attempts at humor.

Didnt really learn much. Maybe if your new to pet care. Not that interesting.

95 of the 207 pages talk about dogs in general, just like any other dog book.
The "activities" are mostly ridiculous like "go see a pup psychic".
I would not recommend this book.

The book was not what I expected. Some interesting info, but little help with a bored dog!
