Great Value (Rating: 4 out of 5) I had researched many answering machines and found this to be the best quality at a very reasonable price.
It was easy to set up and use. I found no distortion voice quality, true, not as clear as a tape machine, but voices were recognizable. Some reviewers may have voice quality issues with their particular machine; may be an individual chip, but think more to the users expectations and individual tastes and senses. Also, some reviewers had problems with operation, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!
As my cable company wants $4.95 for the inconvenience of voice mail this will pay for itself in a few months. If I had a complaint, and a minor one at that is you need to carry a card with you for remote commands
Works as expected (Rating: 4 out of 5) I bought this AT&T 1739 to replace an older AT&T machine that died after about 5 years of use. (In between, we purchased a GE machine which went back to the store the very next day as it was junk). This new AT&T machine performs as expected and is easy to set up. My only complaint is that the incoming recording could be a bit clearer in sound. Other than that, I would recomend it.
Simple/Functional Answering Machine (Rating: 5 out of 5) I bought this answering machine when I switched to Time Warner phone service and did not want to pay $4 a month for voicemail. It was simple to set up and does exactly what I needed it to do - screen my calls & take messages.
Great machine! (Rating: 5 out of 5) It's doing what it's supposed to do. The sound is great, it's very easy to understand the messages that are left, as well as our 'greeting' message. Our old digital machine was dying, there was so much static it was hard to understand the messages that were left. We screen ALL our calls, so we needed a new machine quickly. This is easy to program, doesn't take up much space on the counter, and VERY affordable! Very pleased with the choice. I found this model on Amazon to be the BEST price around.
AT&T 1739 Digital Answering Machine (Rating: 3 out of 5) We owned an earlier model of an AT&T ans. machine, which is no longer available. Liked it much better, more audible and had the two-way voice recording function that this one does not have. The messages on this are sometimes a little garbled. Helps when we turn the volume down slightly. There might be better ones, but probably more expensive. Would probably buy this again since it is not a bad price and it serves its purpose.
