Amazon.com Product Description

Take the guesswork out of measuring, marking and reading angles—no tricky geometry or complicated calculations required—with the Denali 14-Inch Digital Angle Protractor. Simply swing open the tool's pivoting leg and immediately read the angle on the digital display window. The tool is accurate within 1 degree, and will read angles ranging from zero to 185 degrees. The anodized-aluminum protractor is also fitted with two bubble vials for use as a conventional level. The Denali 14" Digital Angle Protractor is equipped with a laser that is cleverly stored inside the protractor's body. Laser is easily mounted to the swing arm via magnets when needed. It's powered a single 9-volt battery (included) that typically lasts about 100 hours of normal use. The tool comes with a protective carrying and storage case.

The protractor provides a quick and precise way to read existing angles, such as roof slopes, wall corners, handrails, and mitered trim work. You can also use it to mark any desired angle up to 185 degrees. It's an indispensable tool when installing crown molding; use it to determine the angle of outside corners, which are rarely 90 degrees. This versatile tool will also do many of the jobs typically reserved for a sliding T-bevel square. And if all that weren't enough, the Denali Digital Angle Protractor costs about three times less than any comparable tool on the market. -- Joseph Truini

Customer Reviews

OK if you are fine with +/-2 degree accuracy!?  (Rating: 1 out of 5)

Boo Amazon!!! I was just putting this back in the box so I could return it and saw that there was a 2nd layer of tape on the top and pen marks from where the previous (presumably unhappy) recipient had opened the box. Buyers beware or you may get this same inaccurate device after its 2nd return....

Received this as a gift today and it seems cool idea except that it is not at all accurate.

Opening the protractor on a dead-flat surface (my table saw) the reading is 178.3 degrees. Right angles are slightly better, but still off more than the instruction manual's stated +/-1 degree tolerance.

Maybe it is repeatable to the displayed 0.1 degree precision and useful for transferring angles--but I'm not sure I want to put faith even in that considering the rest of the problems.

The horizontal bubble level is horribly inaccurate. It is off by about 3/4 of a bubble-width. The vertical one is much closer, but still off.

The laser also wobbles when you stick it to the angled arm. This is caused by two screws that aren't sunk far enough in and are proud of the plate, which then translates to an inaccurate line across the room.

There are no adjustments for any of this--just a zeroing (like on an electronic scale).

Unfortunately, you get what you pay for on this one.

Amazon ought to find a better manufacturer for this tool or change their slick little marketing insert that states: "....Denali tools stand above the rest in providing an exceptional blend of quality craftsmanship, professional-grade features, and customer value...." Maybe Mr./Ms./Mrs. Marketing should actually try their tools and see if a tool that makes everything crooked really meets that claim.

digital level  (Rating: 4 out of 5)

This is a pretty basic digital level protractor, quality is fairly good, no frills, just to measure angles. One small change by printing or painting a rule or scale on the level would render this a better unit.

High quality product  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

Excellent product and shipper sent very quickly and it was actually nicer than the picture. Very sturdy and it worked great!

Very good buy for angle finder  (Rating: 4 out of 5)

This is just what my husband wanted. His old one was broken so we ordered this. It is better than the first one he had. It is easy to use and finds the angle instantly. Even a man who is a professional carpenter was very interested when my husband showed him how quick and accurate it is.

seems like a quality build.  (Rating: 4 out of 5)

The Denali angle finder is excellent for what it does and the price is minimal. The accuracy is right at .1 of a degree due to the plastic fulcrum is a hair too thick. The angle LED will always show .1-.3 of a degree when fully close because of the minor issue stated above but will show zero if folded and held tightly (calibration according to the owner manual does not help to zero it). It constructed with mostly high grade alluminum with nice carrying case included. It will be better if
Denali makes this thing a little thinner and smaller with positive angle lock mechanism plus miter/bevel angle calculation built in like the Bosch does(this miter/angle table can be downloaded from the web! minor issue). All in all it is a great tool for every day usage with fairly high accuracy(i.e. crow molding)without the super high degree of accuracy called by some project. Happy with the purchase and highly recommended.
