Product Description\N
Amazon.comCarrie Underwood's Some Hearts, hastily made and released some five months after she won the 2005 American Idol crown, was surprisingly solid and tuneful. For her follow-up, producer Mark Bright steers her toward the big Martina McBride skies, with a plethora of strings and huge emotional crescendos. Underwood co-wrote four songs, mostly with the tried-and-true tunesmiths who made Some Hearts soar. On the torchy heartache ballad "I Know You Won't," she gives a beautifully nuanced and controlled performance, but if that song would suit any number of lush female pop stars from Celine Dion on down, "Flat on the Floor" rocks hard while preserving co-writer Ashley Monroe's Appalachian angst. Still, there are missteps: the easy tears of the unlikely war ballad "Just a Dream," a too-obvious attempt to repeat the sass of "Before He Cheats" ("The More Boys I Meet"), and the Shania-ish bad-girl-on-Cuervo stomp of "Last Name." The big payoff, then, is how much 24-year old Underwood has improved as a vocalist. How often listeners line up for this Carnival Ride depends on their attitude about country music's continual melding with pop, and how they feel about a princess upstart taking home the awards that used to go to her heroes. --Alanna Nash

What a fine vocalist (Rating: 5 out of 5) We fell in love with this vocalist during American Idol and unlike some this girl just keeps getting better and better. This is an excellent CD.
Great second album (Rating: 5 out of 5) This CD is 50 minutes and 28 seconds long and was released on October 23, 2007. The album went Double Platinum. It has on it four number one country hits. They are: So Small, All-American Girl, Last Name, and Just A Dream. As a person who is not a big fan of country music, this is a great CD.
This Is Not "Really" Country Music (Rating: 3 out of 5) After Seeing Carrie Underwood Perform "Alone" By 80's Rock Band "Heart", I Knew She Had To Have SOMETHING In Her Song Catalogue That Would Be Just As Good Vocal And Song Wise. [I Was Wrong], Carrie Underwood Has Released Two Records And Both of Them Are Dull And Boring And Do Not Live Up To That Performance I Mentioned. What Happend To That Voice That Sang "Alone"?, Carrie's Vocals Are Mediocre And Bland Which Is Why I Can Not Figure Out For The Life Of Me How She Sold So Many Records, I Guess If You're Blonde And "Kinda" Cute With A Girly Image That Makes You Interesting I Guess. I Rated This Album 3 Stars Because Theirs Not A Choice For 2.5 Stars And I Actually Love "Twisted" And "The More Boys I Meet" They Have Great Arrangment And Lyrics. The Rest Of This Album Along With "Some Hearts" Is Just Dull And Forgettable, "Nothing Special". Last But Not Least This Is Sooo NOT Country Music.
