My 4.5yr old really wanted this for Xmas from Santa, and he delivered. Right after opening, I could tell this was pretty cheaply made - the plastic is pretty thin, the sponges are puny and if you can get your hands on some colored hair gel, there's really nothing here that you can't do on your own elsewhere. But I can't deny that this stuff works (the pink and blue best...silver and the light pink/purple don't seem to show up well in any color hair) and has been a lot of fun for my daughter. The little sponges, while cheap and not all that special, do help spread the color evenly (you have to go over the same strand of hair quite a few times to do this but once you do, it evens out really well). We have tried streaking every color hair - very light blond, darker blond, med brown, dark brown and even black - and the pink and blue have shown up in everyone's hair, and has washed out. After reading reviews and trying to wash the pink out of the sponge applicators, I thought that might be the one color that stuck or stained my skin (it gets on your hands a little) but for everyone who has tried, it has come out. And I have to admit that *I* find having little pink and blue streaks in my hair is fun too! I advise parents supervise kids doing this and making them use it in the bathroom, or on some other washable surface as I'd worry it could stain furniture. But really, this product does what it says and the kids love it. I got it on Amazon for 20 bucks but it went on sale for 15 right after that and that's about what I'd say it's worth...wait for a sale price and it's worth it.

Overall my niece loved the product and she is seven years old. I found it easier to not use the sponges and use my hand and even though I brushed her hair after each application it still was clumpy. But overall the child loved it and it was a fun activity to do.

Let me start off by saying my 4 year old thought this was soooo great she made me apply it every day on our Disney trip. If FUN is your only aim, you would probably be happy. In fact, she's bugging me for it again this year (Not happening)

Saying that, I have to tell you that the pink took MONTHS to wash completely out - she had a champagne pink tint for the longest time! She thought this was cool and I didn't really mind (maybe she got out her teenage rebel angst early) IF YOU CARE ABOUT PERMANENTLY PINK HAIR, DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT.

I agree with other reviewers that there wasn't much product, it was hard to put in and the application tool was so cheaply producted as to be unusable - I ended up combing the product on in sections and tossing the applicator completely. Hooray for 'made in China'! (not)

BTW - Google Spin Master (producer of this) and see how much other worthless plastic junk they make, and the recalls they've experienced.

My girls love this toy! They really enjoy doing this activity together (they are 8 and 9), and then seeing how it turns out on their hair...oh.. and it's been washing out just fine. I thought it was a tiny bit pricy for what is in the box (I paid about 30.00), but I'm sure it's just because it's a 'new toy on the market'. It's still fun for the kids though (it's a toy that's actually still keeping their interest), and I'm glad they came out with it!

Since seeing this product on TV last summer, my 9 year old girl has wanted the Girl Crush Streak & Style. After reading reviews I went ahead and ordered it for her birthday. She has had more fun with it over the past few weeks. She has med. dark brown hair and all the colors work quite well. You have to wait for the color to dry completley before you see the full color.
