I had fun, but regret buying Sim City Societies at full price (Rating: 2 out of 5) I wish I would have waited until now to buy Sim City Societies. $10 would be a better price for the amount of fun it offers. I bought it at the full retail price a year ago, had a good time with it for a couple of days but I haven't really played it since. I liked the aspects of the different types of cities but once I accomplished it I became bored. Perhaps I would have had enjoyed it longer if more of the aspects of Sim City had been left in. I'd been frustrated by some of the difficulties I'd encountered in Sim City 4 (staying profitable) but Sim City Societies was too easy, dumbed down way too much. It's a shame they didn't better incorporate aspects of both.
Not for me, looks expansive though (Rating: 2 out of 5) I'm not a sim fan, but I thought I would give this a try. FYI if it detects CD emulation software it won't run (yeah, just detecting it, not even running the game from emulation). If your looking for creative games with no point, this maybe for you.
Fun times (Rating: 4 out of 5) It's a good little game and has lots of replay value. It arrived in good shape, worked great, and I was creating cities in no time at all. It gets a little repetitive after a while, and I lost interest pretty quickly.
Watered down and pointless (Rating: 1 out of 5) This is a very disappointing game - it is extremely watered down compared to the previous games in the franchise and becomes pointless after a few hours.
A huge disappointment ... the era of fun sim games is over (Rating: 1 out of 5) I ordered Sim City Societies, in advance, about year ago for $49.
I had been looking forward to a new version of Sim City for a long time because I was a fan of the Sim City Classic and Sim City 2000.
The installation was a pain. When I finally got it working, I was disappointed because this game was geared to making a play city instead of exploring the problem of how cities should be organized. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'm interested in urban planning.
Thumbs down on this game!
