Changing songs on the Shaker is a snap--or rather, a shake. You can impress your friends by shaking the device to jump to the next song, or use the colorful controller bands for forward and backward track control as well to manipulate the player's volume output. Running on one AAA battery, the Shaker offers up to 10 hours of continuois music playback with a new or freshly charged battery. The Sansa Shaker comes with a convenient lanyard (a great feature for use during exercise or just hanging out), pre-loaded songs so you can jam out right out of the box, and a colorful array of stickers to customize the device. Compatible with Windows XP operating systems and the Windows Media Player 10 media application, the Sansa Shaker measures 2.82 x 1.57 x 1.57 inches and weighs only 2.6 ounces. The shake feature is used to skip to another track randomly.

To skip to the next song simply turn the bottom twist to the right.

To turn the volume up or down just turn the top twist to the right or left.

It is not a bad little mp3 player. The shaking thing does NOT work. All other aspects of the unit work fine.

I odered this Sansa shaker for my 4 year old neice and she loves it...so easy to use and durable too...

My 8 year-old daughter uses it constantly. It goes through the single AAA battery in about 4 hours so stock up. Holds tons of songs. Transfering itunes to the device was a little bit of a process since they had to be converted to MP3 format first. She can find her way around her songs easily. Speaker is loud enough for her to enjoy the music and have dance parties with her friends but not loud enough to annoy her parents.

Even though the technical details on this page specify the term "USB 2.0", this is a USB 1.1 device (which is a lot slower for transfers). This might be a good gift for kids, but given the price it is better to look for other cheaper options...

I researched the kid-friendly mp3 players and chose this one over the Fisher Price fp3 for my two older daughters. I liked that this player uses mp3 files so we don't have to worry about converting our music files to any other format, and I liked the dual headphone jacks as well as the internal speaker.

My girls (7 and 5) love these! They are easily able to turn them on and play their music. The technique to shake the player while holding down the button took a minute or two to get down, but they're now experts at it. And we've had no trouble at all with the bottom battery cover staying on - if you make sure that it clicks when you put it on, it should stay just fine. My daughters love that it's pink, and that they can listen without headphones by using the speaker. I do wish that it came with a pair of 'kid friendly' headphones rather than the earbuds - the earbuds don't fit in their ears and I prefer them to use headphones. So we'll be buying those separately, but I've been very happy with the Sansa Shaker mp3 players.

I should mention that one of ours stopped working a few days after we got them - but Amazon customer service has been wonderful and we had a new one on the way the same day that I requested to return the old one. Thank you, Amazon!
