all right by me !!! (Rating: 5 out of 5) Skullcandy makes these headphones; and they are far and away the best set of headphones I've ever had! Just one listen to my portable CD player through these and I was hooked for life. They are remarkably comfortable and they do an excellent job of blocking out all the noise from the room or wherever you may be.
The headphones have ear "cups" that at first may seem less than completely flexible. Don't worry--within one or two more listens and the ear cups conform perfectly to your ears. They fit relatively snugly without ever being uncomfortable. The headband is adjustable, too, so you can expand or contract the size of the headset.
Although these don't come with a warranty (at least where I bought them), you might not need one. They're very reliable and sturdy. Obviously, don't play football with these things; they can break and that somewhat short cord between the earphones and the plug into your equipment is perhaps a bit too short. As one reviewer suggests, you may want some sort of extension cord to rectify this minor inconvenience but that's probably all you're going to need.
In addition, these headphones have a small but easy to use feature: a small knob you can move back and forth with your fingertip to adjust the level of the sound independent of the portable CD player or whatever you're listening to. This impresses me as it makes the volume louder than the CD player might be able to go. Great!
Overall, I highly recommend these headphones. You can't go wrong.
Other reviewers drinking the Kool-aid, these things SUCK! (Rating: 1 out of 5) This pair of headphones is about on par with any 5-10 dollar set of 'phones you can get from Wally world or the dollar store.
Other reviews stating that the sound quality is the best you can get, are sadly, sadly mistaken.
The 'phones seem to have very loud reproduction between around 120hz and 8KHz, where it is very loud, squawky and overall sounds like GARBAGE.
Below that range or above that range, the output is practically non existent.
We conducted a side-by-side comparison of these headphones, a set of Microsoft Zune Premium earbuds, and an OLD Plantronics headset (Only still in use because it still works and has a boom mic as well as stereo headphones).
By FAR the Skullcandy Hesh headphones were the absolute worst headphones in the house.
The stock earbuds from my wife's Creative Zen were better sounding!
Also, the cord that comes with the headphones is pathetically short at barely three and a half feet long. Don't plan on using these as a permanent solution for your PC unless your PC is closer than that to your head or you are willing to buy an extension cable.
To summarize again, these headphones are quite possibly, the worst over-ear headphones I have ever used and shoppers should avoid them like the PLAGUE.
Get some Sennheiser HD 201's or something, they're cheaper and the sound is incomparable.
Blocks out sound ... and comfy! (Rating: 5 out of 5) I got these for my son and he loves them. the only problem is that now I have to text him to call him for dinner, since he cannot hear me calling him for dinner.
Because they block out more sound, the sound can be lower to be effective. They have been very comfortable for him as well. This is a great gift!
Great Price, Great Headphones (Rating: 5 out of 5) Ok, so I've been using the standard Apple headphones that come packed with iPods and the iPhone, and those are nice and all, but I've been wanting some better headphones for forever and finally got the opportunity so I asked some friends and they all pointed me in the direction of Skullcandy.
I'm so glad that I listened to them, because these headphones are amazing, but don't get me wrong, they do have their faults, but many, MANY more good things to overpower those problems:
Pro's:
- Sound. Amazing bass, especially if you turn on the EQ to Bass Booster, it's especially great for any trance/techno and rap/hip-hop, but is still great for listening to acoustical and alternative
- Noise-Canceling. Even when you put these on, they cut out about 1/3 to 1/2 of all the sound around you. Once you turn the music up, you won't even be able to hear yourself talk.
- Leaking. I was worried at first when I purchased these that they would leak a lot of sound like most other headphones that are around-the-ear, but they do not leak much any (unless you turn up the volume a LOT), but can be used like speakers if you take them off your head and point the different headphones apart. When I want to play music out loud, I just use these headphones instead of the built-in speakers for my laptop because the headphones are louder and have better bass!
- Looks. Of course everyone says it, but really, they look awesome and are great
- Comfort. These headphones have great cushions and fit around my ears well (I have big ears so they still don't go all the way over, but they fit well enough)
Con's:
- Extended use can make your ears a little bit sweaty and cause some discomfort, but this is usually after an hour or an hour and a half until this stuff starts getting annoying, and then you can just take them off for a few minutes and keep listening.
Overall, these headphones are definitely worth the $50.00 and are a great purchase if you are looking for some REALLY good headphones!
Skullcandy Hesh Headphones (Rating: 4 out of 5) Bought this as a gift for my younger brother. Reasonably priced. He really enjoys them. I really liked the colors/fabric of the headphones.
