Excellent game!!  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

This is an excellent game for soccer lovers. The detail makes it so much fun. Will reccomend it for anyone who wants a realistic playing experience.

A very expensive roster update!  (Rating: 2 out of 5)

Every year a new fifa comes out I say to myself, I'm not gonna spend 30 bucks on a game that changes very little over time, but every year I end up buying it anyway. This time I really mean it, I'm getting tired of the fifa series ending as a very expensive roster update. Let's face it, the teams pretty much stay the same with one or two major changes, and maybe change the uniforms a little, so that leaves the game being 5% new. The only real change to me came back in the day when you finally were able to jump with the wall on free kicks, after that no big changes at all. I suggest you stay away from wasting money and just spend a day updating the rosters manually. I gave it 2 stars just because I love soccer also because the graphics, gameplay, and overall presentation are ok.

Gooool!   (Rating: 5 out of 5)

I recently went to visit my brother in Monterrey, and I was surprised to find a copy of FIFA 2007 in his room, because we have never bought sports games. We started playing and I was amazed at how much I was missing out. I never expected this game to be this good. The rest of the week we were there my dad, my brother, and I could not stop playing it. We just kept playing and playing. I was really happy when I found my soccer team in the menu(vamos Tigres!!!). So my brother and I started playing with the Futbol Clubs and we had a hell of a time. If you like soccer buy this game. the graphics leave a bit to be desired but the exhilaration of scoring a goal against the hardest level is awesome. I have an underachieving national soccer team (Mexico,si se puede!) so every time I play as them I make sure to pummel otherwise unbeatable opponents (Brazil). So have some fun and buy this game specially now that it is 20 bucks.

Fifa 07: Great, except when it's time to play.  (Rating: 2 out of 5)

There are essentially 2 soccer games to choose from every year on PS2: Fifa and the Winning Eleven Series.

Fifa is certainly at first look the better option. With the most teams, leagues, and licenses, throw in EA sports domination of the sports video game market, and you would think it's a home run.

Well, it's not.

After a return from an extended stay in Europe, I was craving some soccer video game action. I ended up purchasing Fifa because it is cheaper and easier to find then its rival, Winning Eleven. I'd also been a fan of Fifa's during its first series of games on PS2, but lost the love over the years as I found the game to be slow and not as much fun as previous years.

Fifa 07 starts off great with a nice online community atmosphere and absolutely killer soundtrack. But once you get past the eye pleasing menus, it's time to play, and that's where Fifa loses any magic it once had.

The most important thing about any sports game is the game play itself. If the game isn't fun to play, it is worthless. I found the players to be slow and not at all fluid in their motion as they ran around the field. I can only best describe it as chugging along vs. actually running with ease or grace.

Then comes your teammates. Players on defense will essentially watch the action unless you gain control of them. Offensively, the game is solid except scoring goals can become far too easy and repetitive, even on the hardest levels.

I also have an issue with the lack of action international teams can partake in. Due to World Cup rights, Fifa can only incorporate international competition once every four years in their games, so aside from exhibition matches, you are out of luck incorporating them in any style of tournament.

Here are my PROS & CONS:

PROS:

1. Almost every team/player you can imagine or desire, including MLS
2. Fantastic soundtrack
3. Commentary is enjoyable and adds to the game
4. Manager mode is solid and fun

CONS:

1. Awful gameplay
2. Lack of game modes for international teams
3. Very unrealistic simulation of actual soccer. Too many easy goals, etc

The first CON I listed above says it all. And I honestly didn't realize how bad Fifa was until I played Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007. Winning Eleven may cost more, and is harder to find, but for its gameplay alone it is worth buying or renting over Fifa 07, hands down.

I recommend you rent both games before purchasing. Look for my Winning Eleven review to read up on why it's the better soccer game option.

FIFA07 Review amcyrman  (Rating: 4 out of 5)

The game is great. It has a lot of leagues and teams and the graphics are very well done. The DT carrer mode has lots of fun. I haven't play a lot yet, but I can tell you that it's a great game to play for those love sport games.
