Product DescriptionNoncontact temperature reader safely measures surface temperatures of hot, hazardous or hard-to-reach objects. Ideal for do-it-yourselfers and professional mechanics. Simply point, click and read. Compact and lightweight. Includes battery.
good for the price (Rating: 5 out of 5) This is a handy device that works well for the price. I find it is great for checking temperature of wine in the glass, quick ear-temp checks (which run lower than oral), and checking pan temps. It was also interesting to learn just how hots our bulbs burn (including compact fluorescent). It is small enough to fit in a pocket and has a handy auto-off feature.
It does have some limitations. Because of the conical surface area measurement, the size of the area being measured must be smaller than your distance from it. The max temp of around 450F sometimes limits its utility for cooking.
Too cheaply made (Rating: 1 out of 5) I bought this after my last laser thermometer was caught in a rainstorm and died. I wasn't able to get another just like it, so I thought I'd try something cheaper. Right from the start this thermometer showed signs of being inaccurate and it got steadily worse. Now, after only using it 4 times, it's off by almost 25 degrees. Buy something else. This one's not worth it.
You get what you pay for I suppose (Rating: 3 out of 5) Igloo has free shipping but the front is faux metal (silver plastic). If I had to do it over again I'd get the Emerson (stainless front) Emerson 8-Bottle Wine Cooler - Stainless Steel -- $20 shipping to NJ. Also the temp indicator is off; setting the unit to 52 degrees yields 60 degree wine -- Actron CP7875 PocketTherm Infrared Thermometer. I believe the PocketTherm to be correct as it determined ice water to be 32/33 degrees.
Liking the lighted display (Rating: 4 out of 5) While wandering around in the dark taking random tempertures, I find that the lighted display works awesome. Easy to read and not too bright that I have to readjust to the dark.
Shop somewhere else! (Rating: 3 out of 5) For the price I paid, I would have expected more.
I also ordered another, more expensive product which I never recieved. It is excrutiatingly hard to find anyone that has any qualifications let alone one that could possibly help you.
Amazon.com is the biggest ripoff. For the love of all things human, shop somewhere else.
