Amazon.com Product Description

Wake to the sounds of your favorite iPod tunes with the Emerson iTone iC200BK clock radio. Offering a built-in iPod docking station and Emerson's patented SmartSet auto time-setting system, the iTone is the perfect bedroom, office, or kitchen stereo. The iTone's audio performance starts with its powerful amplifier and matching high-fidelity speakers, which combine to produce the type of high-quality, crystal-clear sound you'd normally expect from a much larger, more expensive audio system.

The built-in iPod docking station, meanwhile, lets you play any dockable iPod model-- including the iPod mini, nano, and shuffle--through the system's speakers. The docking station also automatically charges your iPod battery so you won't have to worry about running out of power. Most importantly, you can choose to wake up to any song in your iPod catalog every morning.

The iTone iC200BK is easy to use. The digital turner automatically scans the AM and FM bands and locks in stations perfectly with no repetitive fine tuning required. You won't have to struggle to read the time thanks to the 0.6-inch white LED clock display, while the integrated station presets (10 AM and 10 FM) make it a breeze to locate your favorite stations at the touch of a button. The radio frequency also features a dimmer control so you can clearly see your choices. And don't worry about bad overnight weather conditions short-circuiting your alarm, as Emerson's SmartSet automatic time- setting system automatically sets the clock to the correct year, month, date, day, and time the first time you connect the system to your AC outlet and after every power interruption. It even adjusts for daylight saving's time and leap years all on its own.

Because everyone has a preference when it comes to deciding when and how it's best to start the day, the iTone iC200BK's unique dual alarm system lets you wake up to your iPod, the radio, or an electronic buzzer that starts softly and gradually increases in volume to wake you gently. It also lets you program one or both alarms for weekdays only, weekends only, or everyday operation. The clock even includes a programmable 99-minute sleep-to-music timer with auto shutoff and a 99-minute nap timer that wakes you after a nap without having to change your regular alarm settings. If you need a little extra sleep in the morning, there's also a snooze alarm that you can activate by pressing the snooze button on the top cabinet or the remote control, or you can simply wave your hand in front of the "touchless" snooze sensor on the front panel.

The iTone iC200BK is flexible and versatile, offering both ease of operation and customization options. Thanks to the compact 13-key remote control, you can operate all the major functions of your system from across the room. And if you still want to use some of your favorite devices with the iTone iC200BK, you can take advantage of the included stereo headphone jack and an auxiliary input jack on the back panel, both of which make it a snap to connect older, non-docking iPods, MP3 players, and personal CD players.

The iTone iC200BK measures 13.5 by 8.5 by 6.5 inches and comes with a 3-volt battery.

Customer Reviews

Great sound, however very glitchy  (Rating: 1 out of 5)

Nice sounding radio for FM and the iPod. However, FM selectivity isn't too good. Large city dwellers will have interference problems picking up weaker stations, since this radio, like most sold today, has a cheap tuner system. Ditto with the AM band.

Emerson has sent me 3 replacements over the past several months. Here are some problems encountered: the AM presets do not hold their stations; the unit will suddenly power out with the clock wildly resetting and all presets lost; loud clicks when pausing or advancing iPod tracks, etc...

I think the basic circuit design is flawed and subsequent assembly by cheap Chinese labor. If the radio buttons worked as designed this would be a decent radio. Unfortunately too many quality control problems with this radio. Customer service is US based (Texas) - a plus, however hours are limited to convenience for the company, not the customer (7 - 10a & 11a - 2p, M-F, p.s.t.).

awful experience!  (Rating: 1 out of 5)

Everything started well. Good sound, lots of features. But it only plays one song from the playlist for the wakeup alarm. After only one month of owning it it started to fritz out. Playing one and a half songs, two and a half, one half, (random wakeup playbacks), finally it automatically set itself to nap mode and the alarm started going off every 60 seconds and nothing would stop it. Even tried unplugging it and pulling out the battery, then reassembling it. It never stopped resetting itself to nap mode! It has been an awful experience.

Fantastic Product  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

This is a fantastic product. Has self setting clock, dual alarm, I usually set one for music, and one for buzzer, the speakers are good, display is good, remote is very handy.
Coming to the point, I tested about 18 Ipod docks from CC, BB and WM, side by side. The price ranges were from 19.99 to 169.99. To be honest, looking at the size of this unit, I hadnt even opened this box till I finished testing all the others. but when I tested this with others, the sound quality and features and remote, beat all the other products outright.
I really dont understand why emerson stopped production on this units. I just see them only in clearance items. get one if you find one. worth it.

Just what I wanted.  (Rating: 4 out of 5)

I had an Emerson dual-alarm clock radio and I was looking to replace it to accommodate my iPod. I was rather cautious after reading the mediocre reviews here, but I knew and trusted the brand and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. I have no problems with docking my iPod even with a EVO4 Duo for Ipod Classic 80GB Electra / Blue on. The dual alarms function exactly as I'd expected them to. The remote works fine and the touchless snooze is a cute but unnecessary feature.

My only nit-picks are cosmetic or outside of what I'd expect from a bedside clock-radio:

The readout does seem needlessly bright but I faced the clock directly & closed my eyes and could see no difference if I then covered my eyes with my hand.

The radio reception is not good at all, but I've never had a clock-radio with good reception and I now use the iPod anyways. It could come without a radio for all the interest I have in one.

Finally, the buttons on the top are small and spaced closely together. But after it is set the only thing they are necessary for is shutting the alarm off. Since either the alarm 1 or alarm 2 button works for this, I've had no problems with that either.

I have had NO buzzing problems from the speakers and the music from my iPod sounds just fine. It's not a high-end stereo and I don't expect it to be. It's a charging station with playback capability and dual alarms. The iTone does the job I wanted it to and does it very well.

Yeesh  (Rating: 2 out of 5)

Radio reception not the greatest and the display is so bright I can read by it.
