Amazon.com Product Description

Upgrade to the wireless convenience of the AirPlay2 FM transmitter and never mess with the clutter of cords again. Simply plug the AirPlay2 into any dock-connector iPod (excluding the 3G model), tune to the same frequency as your FM radio, and push play. The iPod will then play your favorite tunes through any FM stereo--including home stereos, car stereos, and clock radios. The AirPlay2 isn't done yet, however, as it also offers a mono mode for better reception in crowded radio markets, a wide tuning range of 88.1 to 107.9 MHz, three programmable station presets that allow you to conveniently recall your clearest transmission frequencies, and a bright blue LCD display with easy-to-read white characters for effortless daytime and nighttime viewing.

The AirPlay2 draws its energy from the iPod and uses only a minimal amount of power, allowing for hours of playback time. Connection is just as simple, with a design that slips easily into an iPod's dock connector. And thanks to the pass-through female dock connector along the bottom, you can also plug in a charger, letting you play and charge the iPod at the same time. Finally, the AirPlay2's sleek looks match its superior performance, with a stylish narrow housing that beautifully complements the iPod nano (4th generation and later). The AirPlay2's ease of use, quality transmission, and sleek design make it truly unbeatable.

This black model, which comes with an adhesive-backed dash mount, works with the following iPods: iPod 4G, iPod 4G Color, iPod with video, iPod mini, and iPod nano. The unit is also compatible with any 30-pin car charger and is backed by a 90-day warranty.

Customer Reviews

It Gets the job done, But...no one mentions this...  (Rating: 3 out of 5)

I needed something to use at work because I was tired of buying AAA batteries for the Belkin transmitter gadget.
The reviews say minimal battery drainage. Without using a charging device my ipod classic lasted about 7 hours.
Charging devices are cheap so I'll need to buy one.
Otherwise, the XtremeMac Airplay2 works great for me.

It definitely gets teh job done  (Rating: 4 out of 5)

The Airplay has been one of my best ipod accessory purchases. I haven't had problems with reception or static that I read about in other reviews. I had to hold the AirPlay close to the radio for it to pick up initially, but after that it played fine from my cup holder until I was able to mount it on the dashboard. It does zap power, but that's easily fixed since there is room at the bottom of the Airplay dock to allow a car charger. If the preprogrammed stations aren't music free, it could be confusing to change, but mine came with instructions. It is important to note, I can't comment on what it will do on long drives; I haven't been over 100 miles with it. Good luck.

Just what I expected  (Rating: 4 out of 5)

Nice product, well packaged for shipping. Works great in the home, but not so good in the car, but I knew that before I bought it. Fast shipping.

Does what it's supposed to  (Rating: 4 out of 5)

Does what it's suppose to do as written above.
I have never had problems with it staying connected to the iPod or be received by my radio.
Has lasted about 2 years.

PS-works with my iPod touch really well.

Has worked well for me, but has it's flaws  (Rating: 4 out of 5)

I've owned this for over two years now and it continues to serve me well. The reason I prefer the airplay2 over the i-trip is because it allows me to charge it in the car while in use and also detaches from the charger so I can use it on my radio at home. That is really the advantage to this transmitter over others. I found that the signal strength is quite good, and haven't had much trouble finding open stations in several major cities I've used it in. The main problem, and the reason I would recommend getting the upgrade version (called the airplay boost) is because it doesn't lock in to the bottom of my ipod. It is always coming undone in the car and I basically have to hold it in while I switch tracks, or find a new album or whatever. It is really very annoying. I'd definitely go for the boost if you want a good quality transmitter that can function with or without a charger.
