Product DescriptionSony has something for beginning photographers, or those just going digital: an excellent entry-level D-SLR with a 10.2MP sensor, High ISO sensitivity range to 3200, and High ISO Noise Reduction technology. The 40-segment honeycomb, with its spot and center-weighted metering systems, offers outstanding exposure accuracy. And the Super SteadyShot® image stabilization systems increase a novice's ability to achieve quality photos. Newcomers eager to master all the basics, and make the most of their new equipment, will find both the Magic Lantern Guides and the DVD Guide essential components of their photography kit.
for people who are new to DSLR and A200 (Rating: 4 out of 5) As a person who is learning DSLR photography with his new Sony Alpha A200, I decided to buy some books, one of which is Magic Lantern Guides. I didn't know what to expect because there was not much information about this book online, and I haven't owned a book from this series before either.
The book is in Black&White, size of a thick booklet that you would expect to get with any fairly complicated electronic. It will help you understand the every feature the A200 has. It is kind of an expended version of the original Instruction Manual with more words and examples. I wish Sony included this book with the camera.
On the other hand, if you already know some SLR photography, or own other DSLR books, this book may feel too repetitive since many concepts explained in the book apply to any SLR usage in general. In other words this book may not add too much to your knowledge.
If you are new to DSLR, you bought your A200 recently, and if you wish the Instruction Manual was much more descriptive, then this book is for you.
