I wouldn't buy it again. (Rating: 3 out of 5) I bought this book based on the good reviews I saw here. It's not the worst book I've ever read, but I would have rather spent that money on a new subscription to a fitness magazine, I would have definitely gotten a lot more mileage out of my dollars that way. Monica Brandt is nice and she's gone a long way in the fitness industry. I expected more from her book. There's nothing here worth paying so much for.
full of inspiring and motivating fitness info (Rating: 5 out of 5) as a christian and a fitness buff, i was delighted to read a book that touched on both! i have numerous fitness books and magazines and after reading this book i can honestly say that i read something that was new and impacted my fitness routine. yes, it is easy to understand and touches on basics but there are so many misconceptions out there that it was just what i needed. I have tried two of the recipes already and they are yummy-not like cardboard! I have never read a fitness book where the author devotes sapce to changing habits and becoming motivated. it impacted me and i was able to apply the information to my life. thanks Monica!!!!!!
Basic but good (Rating: 5 out of 5) Monica Brant is a superstar in the fitness industry. I've always admired her - she is muscular and fit, but still feminine. I've read many articles by her and about her - so I was delighted to see that she came out with a book of her own. "Monica Brant's Secrets To Staying Fit and Loving Life" is a small book but it is packed with a lot of information. Starting off with a mini-biography, we get a small glimpse into what and who (Marla Duncan) inspired her. Brant then moves on to give brief but to-the-point chapters on form, routines, nutrition, recipes and motivation. There is a good section with photos of Brant doing the exercises. Glossy pics of her magazine covers are splattered throughout the book, but it never feels like she is being narcissistic about it. At the end is a small section of Q&A.
The exercises are very basic as are the routines. If you are experienced in the gym, you may find this book a bit slim and perhaps too "easy". Newbies will be delighted though as this book pares it all down and makes it digestible. Brant has a way of taking the complication out of working out and makes you feel as if you too, can achieve fitness goals. But she is also careful to let the reader know that they need to set realistic goals for themselves as her body requires a LOT more work than the routines that she lays out in her book. If you are looking for something more serious, then I recommend that you check out Anja Langer's classic book: "Body Flex, Body Magic". But if you are just getting started or perhaps happen to be a fan of Monica Brant, then this book will suit you just fine.
Nicely written (Rating: 4 out of 5) Monica Brant has been an inspiration to me for quite some time. Although this is information that I already knew, it is always nice to read what she is doing for her own routine. A great resource for beginners and an inspiration for everyone.
Monica brants book (Rating: 2 out of 5) I was disappointed with this book. I am a personal trainer and thought I would pick up new information from such a big star in the fitness industry. This book is only for beginners to exercise.
