Editorial Reviews

Product Description

The author applies a no-nonsense approach to dieting, exercising, disease treating, and other aspects of everyday life. Our looks, longevity, as well as our physical and mental conditions result from the way we eat, breathe, and take care of all our physical and psychological needs. The question is not limited to nutrition only, as is the case of dieting programs.

Customer Reviews

A definate purchase for the open minded  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

Contrary to the horrible remarks on the 'message board' for this book I am not the author. =)

Despite advances in Western medicine, Coronary Heart Disease remains the biggest killer in this country, closely followed by cancer and then medical malpractice in third place.

We have dedicated doctors who are struggling to save lives faced with an increasing national percentage of obsesity, cancers that won't respond to treatment and a population riddled with malaise; diabetes, anxiety, heartburn, stress, back problems, joint pains etc etc.

Can We Live 150 is part of the clear solution to this problem - preventative action is much more efficient than medical extremes such as bypass surgery (which unfortunately often causes brain damage), gastro-bypass surgery and cosmetic surgery for those who want to reverse ageing.

3 months ago I read 'Eat To Live' by Dr Joel Fuhrman and everyone in America should buy a copy. My chronic headaches have cleared up, I lost 15 pounds of fat, built myself up better than ever at the gym and feel healthy for the first time in my 25 years.

Can We Live is an natural extention of ideas that Fuhrman and John Robbins have made about our health being based on the way we treat our bodies, not chance.

Michael Tombak's book isn't a bible to base your life around but most certainly an invaluble encylopedia of cures and suggestions. He suggests the leading causes of bad health are inproper posture, diet, breathing, attitude and lack of internal cleansing.

The book consists of many recipies, techniques and suggestions to improve your life and feel better. Personally I would much rather trust someone who is willing to share ideas so freely in a $20 book than 'gurus' who are trying to sell you a $400 lifestyle package of pills, books and meals.

If in doubt, try something from the book and see how it makes you feel. I feel like people are more inclined to pop a dangerous diet pill than simply make obvious and sensible changes. You have nothing to lose.

Apple Cider Vinegar is mentioned which is something I was already aware of - during a bout of shingles I drank it out of desperation and they were gone in two days. His suggestions actually do work.

With obestity levels reaching 60% in this country we can't afford to keep kidding ourselves that Barry Sears and Dr Atkins have the answers - if it sounds too good it probably is. Sure, there are many ways to lose weight but very few to be truly healthy.

How many people do you know suffering from a protein deficiency from cutting down on meat? On the other hand, how many of us have been touched in our families by heart disease and cancer.

For scientific backing to what Tombak talks about in terms of casein and protein overload, please read 'The China Study' by Dr Colin Campbell PHD.

Of course I don't think everyone has to be willing to do Enemas or brush thier teeth with twigs, I am currently reading the book with great interest and picking out the parts I would like to try myself that would fit into my lifestyle.

The poster who claimed it was impossible to follow all the instructions in the book was correct but I don't feel the book suggests you need to take an all or nothing approach to improve your health.

Definately buy this book, it is good value.

Finally, a health care approach that WORKS that I can afford!  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

I was chronically tired and was having more and more irritating health issues that were beginning to turn more serious. Taking the advice in this book just on the cleansing alone has helped SO much. As time goes on, I hope to follow his eating recommendations more and more. I appreciate his common sense approach...he isn't trying to pedal any "miracle products" but rather simply has our health and well-being in mind. I'm so thankful he has shared his knowledge with us and given us the tools to take care of ourselves and improve our own lives!

Just what I was looking for  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

I was looking for a way to meet my health needs without taking any pills, vitamins, or anything that you get at a pharmacy. A lot of excellent advise on what to eat and when to eat it. I bought it his other book "Cure the Incurable" with it. I read that one first. I think I should have read this one first, but no big deal I guess.

Excellent  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

This book is excellent! I found especially helpful the chapter about Obesity - its common causes and the ways of dealing with it. I also liked the chapters about spine and cleansing. The remedies are great, cheap and easy to prepare. A lot of excellent health advice comes from the old remedies from the East. I got this book from my friend who is Professional Nurse. My husband, who also works as a nurse for over twenty years, fully supports my opinion about this book.

interesting through to ridiculous  (Rating: 1 out of 5)

I'll grant that this book has some interesting information in it but it does not have any footnotes to aid one in finding out where the information was gleaned from. Also things like the simplification of one's character deduced by eye color is simply [..](pg. 146). This book does NOTHING to aid someone who is already experiencing chronic health problems. [..]

I bought this book and was really disappointed in it. You are better off with Dr. Hyman's books. You can also get better information for the cost of an internet hookup. [..].
