Product Description

Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

Customer Reviews

Much ado about (almost) nothing   (Rating: 1 out of 5)

Up until the time Mack returned to the shack, I was fairly interested in the story. But Young's attempt to humanize the religious figures made them laughable. The writing turned amateurish, with lines of dialogue followed by he chuckled, he yawned, she sighed. One cannot chuckle, yawn, or sigh a sentence. I began scanning the pages just to find out what happens. And then, when I read about The Missy Project, I felt I'd been had. What a way to promote and sell books. But I guess it has worked. I got my copy at the library so I hadn't shelled out $$ to this scheme.

EXCELLENT  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

I have not read a book like this in a loooong time. Excellent. I was hesitant to read it at first, but boy am I happy I did. I am telling all I know to read this book, even bought an extra one to give to people to pass along as I did my book. This book spoke to my heart. I see God in a whole different light. God Bless those reading this.

A book to give hope and build our faith  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

This came highly reccomended and I was not disappointed. For me, it answered the question, "Why do bad things happen to good people." It also explains in a new way the Trinity. It holds your attention to the very end and continues to amaze and surprise with each chapter. It is an easy read, but one that I will read and reread. I have given away 6 copies already. I believe it is God inspired.

The Incredible Shack   (Rating: 5 out of 5)

I could almost believe that this story could happen. Just as the story goes, God is truly able to appear to people in whatever form He decides. My husband and I both liked the book a lot.

Great Book  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

The Shack by William P. Young is a story of a girl who was abducted, brutally murdered and found in an abandoned shack. Mark the main character in the story finds a note in his mailbox telling him to return to the shack. This is where he meets God manifested in many different forms. I can see the readers of this book are looking for God themselves by their reviews.
I found a new book that helped me find hope in this world of such uncertainty, entitled "The Enlightenment, What God Told Me After One Million Prayers: A Message for Everyone," by John H. Eagan. I just finished it. It's really great and deals with God, the creator, Jesus' teachings, and His Passion. It brought me to tears. I think you will really enjoy The Enlightenment
