Enjoy playing these excellent compositions! (Rating: 5 out of 5) I love David Lanz's style--the emotion he puts into his music is amazing. You will love Nights in White Satin and Nocturne as they are not that difficult to play, yet they sound so sweet! I only wish this book was designed in a spiral bound format so it would lay open flat while practicing music. Still, this music deserves a 5-star rating.
Sacred Road by David Lanz (Rating: 5 out of 5) This book is great!!!! i started playing piano when i was young and have progressed greatly over time. This book helped me bring out emotions that couldn't be expressed in classical. My personal favorite has to be variations on a theme from Pachelbel's Cannon in D, although i still greatly enjoy playing his other works such as Dreamer's Waltz, A Path with Heart, Nocturne, Before the Last Leaf Falls, Beloved, Nights in White Satin, and A Whiter Shade of Pale. His music can bring out emotions never attainable from classical. This is one book that i will go back to and play whenever i have time.
Still Enjoying (Rating: 5 out of 5) I have been playing music from this book for almost two years and I still enjoy most of the pieces. There is a nice mix of fast and slow pieces. I think David's music is very open to personal interpretation, which makes for a different experience depending upon what I bring to the piano at the time. Person favorites include Nocturne, Before the Last Leaf Falls, The Long Goodbye, Variations on a Theme from Pachelbel's Canon, and Knights in White Satin. David's music is complex enough to interest the experienced player but not so difficult to frustrate you. Some of the passages do take time to master but it is well worth the effort.
Some great songs! Others aren't quite as magical... (Rating: 4 out of 5) This book features all the titles from David Lanz's album Sacred Road (excluding the orchestral 'Interlude'), plus he added a few of his GREAT arrangements of Pachelbel's Canon in D, A Whiter Shade of Pale, and Nights in White Satin. I bought it for the three mentioned songs but found playing Nocturne, Dreamer's Waltz, and Beloved very enjoyable. The rest of the songs aren't as good, but its worth buying, merely for the songs mentioned above.
