Boom, This book is fine! (Rating: 4 out of 5) I've been playing Madden since the 90's and own 3 of these books. Why it has ANY bad reviews is beyond me. OK, a mispelling here, a pic that might not match perfectly, but no worse than the other "Official Madden" books. An excellent resource on player ratings, and how to beat teams, offenses and different defensive schemes. The book is fine!!!
Prima Strategy Guide Madden NFL Live 2006 (Rating: 2 out of 5) This is a great book. I have used them in the past.
Check the online FAQs (Rating: 1 out of 5) Unfortunately, the guide's high point was that the terse explanations hint of things that can be tried. So with the original game instructions in hand, I can work to decipher what this guide meant in those cases.
The low points are numerous and enumerated below:
The guide assumes you are familiar with Madden NFL 2004. If you are a newbie, this guide gives you less help than the game instructions (i.e. none).
The guide has many typos (annoying), references to screen-shot images that do not exist (more annoying), and errors (most annoying, e.g. Denver has a halfback that should be played at left tackle--hmmm...).
The language is inconsistent. Sometimes game actions are described by their proper names; sometimes by alternate names. The reader is left to sort it out.
The descriptions are poor. The description for activating two different game functions are seemingly identical. The reader must consult the game instructions to discover the difference.
The screen-shots are sometimes too small and soft (blurry) to recognize what they depict.
The guide gives bad advice, like playing an inferior player in place of the default starter.
I learned more from online FAQs posted on the net by generous people. I recommend searching Google.
