Product Description

Emma.  Beautiful, intelligent, radiantly talented, she lives in a star-studded world of wealth and privilege.  But she is about to discover that fame is no protection at all when someone wants you dead....

All she has to do is close her eyes and she remembers the day Brian McAvoy swept into her life.  A frightened toddler, she didn't know then that she was his illegitimate daughter or that he was pop music's rising new star.  All she knew was that with Brian, his bandmates, and his new wife, she felt safe.  And when her baby brother arrived, Emma thought she was the luckiest girl in the world...until the night a botched kidnapping attempt shattered all their lives...and destroyed Emma's happiness.

Yet now, even though Emma is still haunted by flashes of memory from that fateful night, she has survived.  She's carved out a thrilling career and even dared to fall rapturously in love.  But the man who will become her husband isn't all that he seems.  And Emma is about to awaken to the chilling knowledge that the darkest secret of all is the one buried in her mind--a secret that someone may kill to keep.

my favorite NR book, so far...  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

I've read many NR books, and so far this is my favorite. There are so many twists and turns, and I was actually surprized at the end; then again, I usually am-I always have a hard time figuring out whodunit! (spoiler)---I did want to smack Emma around a little bit for letting her husband smack her around, although he got what was coming eventually.---
A good, satisfying, fast-paced, highly recommended read!

Public Secrets  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

This was my first Nora Roberts book. I must
say it was an "unbelievable story". I read
this book in under 3 days. I could not put
this down. I am now a fan of Nora Roberts.

A disappointment  (Rating: 2 out of 5)

I am an avid romance reader and in fact a big fan of Nora, despite her tendency to formula and the expected, but Public Secrets really was a disappointment. I was actually really enjoying the novel, she weaves a wonderful tale, though it was an overwhelming amount of information, i found myself unable to put it down. But when our lead guy, Michael, and the actress had their little affair I felt the whole thing went down hill. Personally I cannot stand cheating, even if they weren;t together i know, but its unnecessary and in fact a totally pointless plot point. From there she married the despicable Drew and I found myself literally flipping the pages till we were past him and his cruelties. I am not naive nor dumb, i know that abuse between couples happens too often, but thats not what I pick a Nora Roberts book for. I feel that Nora overdid it, there was just so much cruelty in Emma's life, nonstop, that I find it hard to believe she survived it all so well. I guess my bottom line would be is that it was serious overkill. I was eager to finish the book, not because I was so into it, but because I could not wait for it all to be settled and even now having finished am still jittery from the read. Generally i can take a lot, but between a cheating but ten year adoring main man and a girl who just cannot escape getting abused and hurt i felt it was too much for me.

Public Secrets  (Rating: 3 out of 5)

It was not one of my favorite Nora Roberts books. It was long and drawn out.

It's no secret  (Rating: 5 out of 5)

It's no secret that NR rules. I bought this book when it first came out. I was on a road trip with my parents. I read this book cover to cover 7 times in a week. I'd start finish restart over and over. Most of NR books are great. This one, Private Scandals, Carolina Moon, & Montana Sky are my favorite of her older stuff. She has a wonderful way of inviting her readers along on the adventures with her characters. Some may feel like the've been seen before but somehow I don't care. I love authors that command my attention, whose voice I hear everytime I read their work, Linda Howard, Sharon Sala, Susan Andersen, Ann B. Ross to name several.
