Amazon.com ReviewWith its open design and multiple options, the 1,500-watt Braun FreeStyle iron delivers both comfortable use and high-speed results. The iron features a scratch-resistant Durasteel soleplate constructed with a nonstick finish to glide easily and quickly. In addition to a spray function, the iron also includes variable, vertical, and Power Shot steam. Controlled with a dial, the variable option releases up to 15 grams of steam per minute. The vertical feature lets you steam clothes or draperies while they hang. The Power Shot delivers a blast of steam--65 grams per minute--for extra-stubborn wrinkles in either the horizontal or the vertical position. The iron's 71 steam vents are distributed in a pointed arc across the soleplate for even dispersal, and a simple instant interruption button lets you halt steam immediately. The iron can also be used dry.
The FreeStyle's distinctive open handle design is comfortable to hold and reduces the iron's overall weight. It features a soft-grip surface and allows room for the power cord to wrap around the heel. Both steam and spray buttons are soft and easy to engage, and the translucent 10-ounce water tank features a simple-to-fill hatch opening. The min-max temperature dial works in conjunction with a fabric guide printed on the heel. Both right- and left-handers can secure the 8-foot pivoting cord out of the way in an integrated clip. Braun includes an anticalcification system to prevent mineral build-up and a limited one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard
Lots of steam to spare (Rating: 4 out of 5) It has an ergonomic handle and is lightweight. My wife likes the fact that it releases plenty of steam to remove those stubborn wrinkles.
This iron knocks the steam out of any Rowenta!! (Rating: 5 out of 5) I bought a Rowenta thinking, "if it costs more it must be a better iron". I was so wrong! The Rowenta didn't last very long. Which is fine, because it was awful. The Braun, however, is brilliant! You can tell by the design that someone actually listened to someone who irons. The prongs on the plug are of equal size, so you just stick it in the outlet and not have to worry about which way it goes. The opening where you put the water in is large! You can fill this baby up fast. And it's easy to see the level of water in the iron. The cord can accommodate a lefty or a righty. The temperature level is easy to control and can be done with the same hand holding the iron. So you can go from very hot for linen, to cooler for synthetics without having to stop. The burst of steam from this iron is amazing! It sounds just like a professional steamer and does just as good a job. The iron itself is light and easy to manuever. The Rowenta didn't have any of these features! And Amazon has the lowest price for the Braun. I've looked! This is one great iron.
So far so good (Rating: 5 out of 5) We have been using this the past month or so. So far we are happy with its performance; steaming, heat, wrinkle removals etc., no complaints.
Fabulous iron (Rating: 5 out of 5) Easy to use, great features, happy wife. What else can you ask for? For 9 years, my wife has used the old Black and Decker that I inherited from my father and used for many years as a bachelor myself. It finally died, and Amazon had this great iron at a steal of a price. My wife loves it. The visible water fill level is fantastic, as is the adjustable steam quantity and extra burst. We weren't concerned about no auto-shut off since the old iron had none, and my wife is a seamstress. Other reviewers doing sewing complained that the auto-shut off was annoying when working with materials over an extended period. The only weakness with iron is the flimsy water fill cover. One little bump with it open and it will break off. It's a great feature though, since water spills make a mess. No real complaints overall, especially for $30.
Worth every penny!!! (Rating: 4 out of 5) This iron works great. Ironing couldn't be made more easy, cause the time it takes to iron compared to my old iron was cut in half. Also, the steam button delivers a great amount of steam, enough to lift the iron from the surface for a split second.
