Product DescriptionThe ultimate chef's assistant! Cuisinart's 7-cup processor can chop 1 pound of meat, knead 1.5 pounds of dough, and perform many other preparation functions including slicing, dicing and shredding. In addition, its one-finger pulse control means it's easy to use, too. Lexan work bowl holds 1.5 quarts. Model DLC-5. Manufacturer's limited warranty.
Amazon.com ReviewWith its 7-cup work bowl, 600 watts of power, and slicing and shredding discs, this food processor is ideal for most households. It kneads 1-1/2 pounds of bread or pastry dough, chops 1 pound of meat, emulsifies a perfect mayonnaise or salad dressing, and chops, slices, or shreds vegetables, nuts, cheese, and bread crumbs. The plastic work bowl is shatterproof and resists both heat and cold. A single fingertip control turns the processor on and off and pulses for precise work. All parts go safely into the dishwasher. With work bowl in place, the processor measures 7 by 12-1/2 by 9-1/2 inches. It carries a five-year warranty against motor defects and a three-year warranty against other defects. --Fred Brack
Like the original (Rating: 5 out of 5) This unit replaced our original DLC-11 we purchased 25 years ago. The bowl of the original unit cracked, and rather than spend $55 to replace the bowl we purchased this unit. We didn't really need the extra capacity offered by our original Cuisinart. This Cuisinart works fine, and we're pretty sure you'll like it too. The Pulse button works differently, but it still works logically and smoothly. If you've never owned a Cuisinart, do yourself a favor and buy this model. It will save you more time and effort than you can imagine! If only it weren't manufactured in China.
We are dependent on this (Rating: 4 out of 5) We had one of these and it was an absolute wonder. Always dependable, did most everything we required of it. Then my nephew bumped it off the coutertop (it was a high countertop). We ordered another one and it took over where the other left off. The only reason I didn't give it a five is due to the fact that the discs are not as heavy on this one as on the previous unit, so we're using the old discs and container from the previous one.
Blade Broke Off In My Food (Rating: 1 out of 5) I used to love this product just as many others do. Unfortunately, a small piece of the blade broke off in the food I was chopping, and if I hadn't seen it, my children could have swallowed the blade.
Cuisinart sent a replacement blade, and recently this SECOND blade broke off into my food. After being well-informed of the danger, Cuisinart's only response has been to offer another of the same hazardous blade.
"couldn't live without it" (Rating: 5 out of 5) My wife makes lots of cakes and desserts. This food processor makes everything a snap. So easy to use and clean. Heavy duty...doesn't bog down.
Useful for making chapati dough (Rating: 4 out of 5) I bought this primarily to make Indian chapati dough and am very satisfied with it. It makes kneading dough a lot easier. You could even make different kinds of rotis/parathas by adding an array of vegetables to it.
I have also used it to slice vegetables, works well. For slicing wider foods like apples or potatoes, it would be nice if the feeder were a little broader.
The blades are really sharp and I would be very careful with the exposed blades.
Cleaning is not much of a hassle either.
Would recommend the product.
