Poor all around (Rating: 1 out of 5) Philips/Nike 256 MB Solid State MP3 Player
Good idea in theory, bad design, worse software. The strap to wear this would have been better replaced by a shoe lace. I don't think Nike or Philips put any experienced designers on this one. I cannot believe how often I have to adjust the strap. What a piece of junk.
Don't waste your money! (Rating: 2 out of 5) I used this thing for a long time. It worked fine for a little while. Soon some of the buttons stopped working properly. It became fairly inaccurate. The software was a mess! And it doesn't hold as much music as they claim. Get an iPod and the sport pack instead. You'll be glad you did!
Review for the PSA260 (Rating: 5 out of 5) I bought the 260 which I am guess is the next step up from the 256 and seems to have a bit mroe memory at least than the 256.
I love it. The foot pod is accurate right out of the box. I fooled around iwth it once and screwed it up but recalibrating it was no problem and it is working perfectly.
The sound could be a bit louder, but if you are running then lower volume is probably a bit better so you can hear that car before it slams into you anyway.
I thought the software and interface worked just fine. Yeah, the upload is a bit slow but I just set it to upload a bunch of songs and walk away for a few minutes and they are there when I get back. Downside I found is that once the songs are on there, I cant find any way to move the order around. I think I can probably do something iwth the playlist feature but havent worked on it yet.
I love getting my current speed when running - helps to keep me motivated.
the foot pod did fall off once when I was doing speedwork though - I am pretty sure that I somehow kicked it with my other foot. but it still works after the tumble it took on the track, so at least it is durable.
Biggest downside I see is that they dont make these any more so getting help from PHilips or Nike will be tough if somethinghappens to it. but I only paid $65 for it brand new in box so it wont be that much of a loss.
I highly recommend this for runners. If you're not a runner, get something else, but for running I find this invaluable.
MP3 Run (Rating: 4 out of 5) I love the look of it and find it really motivating! I can track my progress and see results, all while pacing myself to my favorite songs. I noticed that it doesn't hold many songs compared to other MP3's, but it makes up for that by telling me how far and how fast I am moving.
Certainly a must-have!
Easy to use (Rating: 5 out of 5) It is very easy to use. I opened the box and started to use it in less than 30 minutes. Just follow the instrusction, everything will be fine. I like it.
